It manages to take some "actual" volume off tracks or busses without making them sound quieter (or even can make them sound apparently louder), which is what it's supposed to do I guess. I've had more success on drums and bass with this. Granted I have never used a clipper in my life so maybe user error. Just seems to take a bit of clarity away. I got Boz' Big Clipper but so far I have not liked it on a master bus. TDR Kotelnikov GE - yeah another compressor.between the townhouse and this I'm barely doing 2-3 db, sounds pretty good to me So far I am dialing it back so it's doing just a bit. TEOTE - I just got this and have had spotty success with it. I popped this on the main drum buss and it sounds outstanding there. bx_townhouse (ssl compressor) - demo mode currently, hoping it goes on sale very soon! I like it a bit more than the NI SSL comp and the Logic one but I expect they'd do fine too for that sound. I'm trying not to go overboard because we are doing a few songs together and they need to sound at least somewhat similar, so my buddy is probably going to want to 'master' them together.that said.I'm using, on the stereo bus currently: Mastering-well, I'm trying some things but this is by far the area I know the least about. I did write all the midi tracks (about 30 all told, not all playing at once!) and mostly used Diva, Repro and Alchemy. I didn't track any of the non-midi instruments, but as far as I know nothing was applied to them during tracking.

That has NOT STOPPED ME from buying things on Black friday like a kid in a candy store and using (and overusing) plugins!ĭoing a mix of one of my band's tunes now.

I'm a rank hobbyist with a bit of (small-time jingle studio) experience from WAY back.so I really should just be using Logic stock plugins. I think everything but Ez Drummer I was able to find significantly less than retail when I bought it (Black Friday, lockdown sales, intro sales, shopping Euro sites, and because I work at a university I get. I've picked up other freebies along the way but the above is the bulk of it. Soundtoys Effects Rack (mostly I like to run some of the vocal presets when tracking), some of the vocal effects are fun if I can't find what I need with Nectarīlack Rooster Audio - I like their Magnetite but I got their stay home bundle at the start of the pandemic and use the VPRE-73 at the start of my vocal chain.ĮZ Drummer and Bass (I have keys as well but don't use it much) RX8 for non music stuff like easy breath cleanup, but it also can separate tracks into fake stems which is helpful for doing covers or when I might want to just do a vocal recording. For me I like to run some of the Nectar stuff on my vocals after it's recorded. I think others have talked about what's in here and what it does.
